- Mindestalter 25 Jahre
- Mitteilung über die positive Eignung als Adoptiveltern durch die je nach Wohnsitz zuständige Kinder- & Jugendhilfe
Anforderungen der südafrikanischen Behörden
- Mindestalter 28 Jahre
- Alter bis 50 Jahre (Ausnahmen nur dann möglich, wenn die Werber*innen über ein zusätzliches besonderes Potential für die Bedürfnisse der wartenden Kinder aufweisen)
- Bei Bewerbung als Paar: Ehe oder eingetragene Partnerschaft
- Bereitschaft, ein Kind bis drei (3,9) Jahre aufzunehmen
- Bereitschaft zum Aufenthalt im Land 4 – 5 Wochen
- Kein direkter Kontakt von Bewerber*innen zu Heimen oder Behörden in Südafrika (bei Nichtbeachtung muss dies zum Ausschluss aus dem Adoptionsprozess führen)
- Die Adoptivwerber*innen informieren EfKÖ zeitlich unmittelbar über alle Veränderungen ihrer Lebenssituation, z.B. Wohnungswechsel, Änderungen der persönlichen Daten wie E-Mail, Telefonnummer, Änderung des Familienstatus wie Trennung oder Scheidung, das Anstreben einer reproduktionsmedizinisch unterstützten Schwangerschaft inkl. Beauftragung einer Leihmutterschaft im Ausland, das Eintreten einer Schwangerschaft inkl. Schwangerschaft der Leihmutter, die Aufnahme eines Kindes, etc.
- Bei der Aufnahme eines zweiten, bzw. weiteren Kindes muss mindestens 1 Eingewöhnungsjahr liegen, der Altersabstand vom jüngsten Kind zu einem weiteren Kind in der Familie muss somit mindestens 1 Jahr betragen.
- Das zuletzt in die Familie kommende Kind muss immer das Jüngste sein
Bewerbungen möglich für
Südafrika akzeptiert Bewerber*innen unabhängig von Familienstand, ethnischer Herkunft, Geschlecht, sexueller Orientierung oder Religion bzw. anderer Weltanschauung.
Österreich akzeptiert nur Bewerber*innen mit Hauptwohnsitz in den Bundesländern Wien, Niederösterreich, Oberösterreich,,Burgenland, Kärnten und Vorarlberg.

- Bereitschaft und genügend Selbstbewusstsein zur Annahme eines COC (Child of colour)
- Bereitschaft zur Annahme eines Kindes bis 3,9 Jahre
- Größtmögliche Ausweitung des Kinderprofils (Eigenschaften und Alter des Adoptivkindes)
- Intensive Reflexion zum Kinderwunsch (leibliches Kind/Adoptivkind), Abgeschlossener leiblicher Kinderwunsch
- Sehr gute Englischkenntnisse
- Flexibilität, was die Wartezeiten betrifft
- Interesse an der Geschichte des Landes, sowie an kulturellen sowie ethischen Hintergründen der südafrikanischen Gesellschaft
- Offenheit für Reisen nach Südafrika (auch nach der Adoption)
- Bereitschaft, sich auf das Kind und seine Bedürfnisse einzustellen
- Bereitschaft zur Biographiearbeit mit dem Kind
- Eigene Förderpotentiale und Grenzen erkennen und weiterentwickeln
- Großes Interesse und Freude, Teil der Gruppe der Südafrika-Adoptivfamilien zu werden und dem Kind damit Kontakte zu anderen südafrikanischen Adoptivkindern zu ermöglichen.

- When taking in a second or additional child, there must be at least 1 year of acclimatization, so the age gap between the youngest child and another child in the family must be at least 1 year.
- The last child to join the family must always be the youngest
