Der Verein „Eltern für Kinder Österreich“ ist seit 1991 als freie Kinder- und Jugendhilfeeinrichtung auch im Bereich der „Internationalen Adoptionsberatung und -begleitung“ tätig.

Neben wenigen österreichischen Kindern wurden vor allem Waisenkinder aus Rumänien von österreichischen Paaren mit Hilfe von EfKÖ adoptiert.

Nach der Ratifizierung des Haager Abkommen zum Kinderschutz durch Österreich hat sich der Bereich „Internationale Adoption“ verändert. Das Haager Abkommen stellt Mindeststandards sicher und das ist sehr begrüßenswert. Es wird versucht, dem weltweiten Kinderhandel Einhalt zu bieten.

An sieben Abenden und einem zweitägigen Kurs können Sie sich mit dem Thema Adoption vertraut machen und sich auf die künftigen Herausforderungen vorbereiten.
Wer die Adoption eines Kindes aus dem Ausland überlegt, braucht – wie auch bei einer Inlandsadoption – eine Pflegestellenbewilligung von seiner zuständigen Jugendbehörde.

In den anderen Bundesländern wenden Sie sich bitte an das für Sie zuständige Jugendamt.

Einer intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit den Themen unerfüllter Kinderwunsch, Beweggründe zur Adoption und Lebensgestaltung auch ohne Kinder sollten Sie in einem Vorbereitungskurs ausreichend Platz geben.

Wenn Sie sich für eine „Internationale Adoption“ entschieden haben, benötigen Sie eine Vielzahl an Dokumenten, die das Herkunftsland eingehend prüfen wird.

International Adoption

The „Eltern für Kinder Österreich“ association is an independent child and youth welfare organisation and has been active in the field of “international adoption counselling and support” since 1991.

With the help of EfKÖ, many Romanian orphans and a few Austrian children could be adopted by Austrian couples.

Austria’s ratification of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Children changed the field of “International Adoptions”. The Hague Convention guarantees for minimum standards which is very welcome. It is an attempt to stop the global trafficking of children.

bildIn the course of seven evening classes and a two-day course, you can make yourself familiar with the subject and get prepared for future challenges.

People interested in adopting a child from abroad require a foster care license issued by the responsible youth welfare authorities.

In the preparatory course, you should not avoid to profoundly discuss subjects such as fertility problems, reasons for adoption and a life without children.

If you decide to adopt a child from abroad, you will require many documents which will be thoroughly examined by the child’s home country.
